Upcoming Event: Winterlude

From January 30th to February 16, 2015 you will get to experience what is known as Winterlude. Winterlude is three weekends full of nothing but fun. Bring the children and a pair of skates, and head down to the largest naturally frozen ice skating rink in the entire world.

Every year over 500,000 people come to see what Winterlude has to offer. The good news is most events are free, which allows more people to participate. Here’s a look at what to expect at this year’s Winterlude.

Activities

During the event, you will be able to learn how to skate, play in a hockey tournament, participate in a winter triathlon and so much more. Most activities will take place on the weekends. However, the Snowflake Kingdom playground for children, skating on the Rideau Canal and ice sculptures take place during the week.

Dining

If you love to eat you will love Winterlude. Some of the best restaurants in the capital will come by to create unique culinary events. There will be wine, chef demonstrations and so much more.

Ice Carvings

While at Winterlude be sure to check out the ice carvings. They are created by artists from all over the world and are sure to take your breath away. If you have children check out the Snowflake Kingdom. It is said to be the biggest snow playground in the world. Children of all ages are welcome to stop by and have a little fun.
