The Rideau Canal Skateway has opened for skating for the 45th season. It's a 3.6-kilometre section of ice from the Bank Street Bridge to Somerset Street, except for Patterson Creek. It will be open to skaters starting on January 11th, which marks the 200th birthday of Sir John A. Macdonald. He was one of the Fathers of Confederate.
